Dancing With The Stars - Season 9 - Cast Announcement!

The Cast of DWTS Season 9 has been announced!
Here's the run down in no particular order:

Aaron Carter

Younger brother of Nick Carter from The Backstreet Boys, Aaron is also a teen pop star. He's done some acting (think Disney Channell type stuff) and was part of a little known reality show that followed his family around documenting their everyday lives. I think Aaron will be a good pick, he's got that popstar stage presence and is generally a good kid. He'll probably do pretty well with the dancing since most popstars know how to follow choreography and groove to the music. He'll be one of the younger cast members so old ladies and teen & tweens alike will vote for based on his cutiepie-ness.

Chuck Liddell a/k/a "The Iceman"

UFC Member and former significant other of Willa Ford whom he was dating while SHE was on the show during season 3. Not sure if you guys remember her but she & Maks had some major chemistry goin on backstage... Wonder if Chuck is doing this as a revenge thing? Not sure why he would choose this tactic if that were the case, but maybe he'll be a diamond in the rough like Ty Murray from last year. Fighters need to be light and quick on their feet, after all... I'm sure he'll garner all the votes from the ginormous UFC fanbase that watches DWTS... oooor maybe not.

Ashley Hamilton

Son of George Hamilton, who is mostly famous for his tan. Ashley is a comedian, songwriter, and actor. I have never heard of him. Apparantly he was voted as one of People Magazine's 50 most beautiful men. Not sure who his fanbase will be... we'll see how he looks shirtless, that should tell us a lot.

Debi Mazar

Once Madonna's makeup artist, appearing in several Madonna videos, she's probably more recently known for guest appearances on Ugly Betty and Priviledged. She's an actress best known for her cute New York accent and her role in Goodfellas. She's currently starring in Entourage, but I also remember her playing a villain in that John Ritter movie with the bratty little kid... or maybe one of the Bethoven movies about that St. Bernard dog...

Donny Osmond

Finally weaseling his way onto the show after his sister took 3rd place in Season 5, I'm sure he'll do well considering his background, but really, who cares? Well, maybe YOU care if you're a Donny Osmond fan. Of all of the annoying celebrities in the world, ABC picks HIM. Personally the cheese factor is just a tad bit too high for me, we've already seen an Osmond do this show... Why are we putting ourselves through this again?

Joanna Krupa a/k/a "JoJo"

"Actress" and Model are her listed talents. I don't know what she's ever acted on, but she WAS voted as one of the Sexiest Women In The World by Maxim Magazine so she'll totally rawk the itty bitty glittery costumes and for THAT we can all be thankful.

Kathy Ireland

Mom of 3 and author of the new book "Real Solutions for Busy Moms: Your Guide To Success And Sanity", also a famous bikini model, featured in 13 consecutive years of SI's Swimsuit Edition (which right there is a HUGE accomplishment considering she's squeezed 3 pregnancies into the mix!!) She's known for numerous guest roles on tv shows and small movie roles. I think moms, business-minded chicks, and men alike will all be rooting for her to do well in this competition. She's just a generally likeable girl.

Kelly Osbourne

Ozzy and Sharon's sometimes blonde, sometimes brunette little girl is about to show the world if she has a hidden dancing gene up in the DNA! She's recently released her 2nd album and her single "One Word" is topping the charts.

Louie Vito

Professional snowboarder who has competed in the X Games and will probably be on the 2010 US Olympic team. Not sure how he'll do as a dancer, hopefully he doesn't sustain any freak injuries which put his training in jeopardy and risk his chances for Olympic Gold!

Macy Gray

6 time VMA winner, she's known more for her raspy vocals than her bangin dance moves, but we'll see how Miss Macy does this season.

Mark Decascos a/k/a "The Chairman"

OMG I am SO excited about Mark being on the show this year. I love him as the host of America's Iron Chef on Food Network. Born in Hawaii, he's also a Kung Fu champion and has appeared in several films as a martial arts performer.

Melissa Joan Hart

I am ALREADY on TEAM MJH! Mom of 2 young boys, Mason and Braydon, Melissa is best remembered for her teen roles on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, and Clarissa Explains It All. But she also had a starring role in Drive Me Crazy and appeared alongside Britney in the music video for the films theme song. I've always been a fan and hope she does well!!

Michael Irvin a/k/a "The Playmaker"

Former Dallas cowboy turned Sports Commentator, we'll see if he follows in the mostly successful footsteps of other former NFL players on the show.

Mya

R&B Singer and Actress, Mya is probably best known for her Lady Marmalade collaboration with Christina Aguilera, Pink, and Missy Elliot. She's a Grammy winner, a multi-platinum artist and is set to release her 6th album on her own indie label this year. Her stage experience will probably benefit her as someone who can do choreography but it'll all come down to how well she can execute the technique I think. Just remember, that before she was famous, she was a dancer and has appeared in Broadway's Chicago.

Natalie Coughlin

Olympic Swimming Champion is the most decorated female athlete of both the 2004 and 2008 games. She won a medal in every Olympic event that she entered giving her a total of 11. In 2008, she became the first American female athlete to win 6 medals in one Olympiad. She's also the first woman to win consecutive individual Olympic gold in the 100m backstroke. She is the most decorated female swimmer in World Championship history with 16 medals. Recently nominated as the Top Female Athlete of the Year at the 2009 ESPY Awards, we'll see if she does as well as many of the other Olympians who have competed on the show.

Tom DeLay

Former Republican House Majority Leader was removed from office after being found guilty of failing to report corporate campaign contributions from friend and convicted felon Jack Abramoff and others. He was investigated by the House Ethics Committee for numerous criminal and ethical activities and was sent packing in total disgrace. So... probably the most confusing choice for a cast member, ABC has a glowing and lovely description of his achievements listed on their website under "Meet The Cast". I'll let you go and read and you can decide on your own if you think he'll do well, or poorly, during this season. Personally, I hope he's voted out the 1st week, he may not have much time to compete between indictements.

Season 9 premiers on September 21st, set your DVR's folks! GO MJH!!! I'm wondering how the shear number of celebrities this season will play out. Probably going to have a few Double Elimination Nights to whittle out the losers.
